The class is called GBUS 280 Advanced Studies in International Business. GB 280 is a research class that will focus on student research projects comparing U.S. business practices with their global counterparts. The 2007 class requires participation in the research trip to Japan. Instructor permission and successful enrollment/completion of INST 150 International Business are pre-requisites for this class. INST 150 can now be accepted to the UW as a transfer class.
We will be traveling to Osaka, Kyoto, Hakone and Tokyo. The first part of your research trip in each city is highly structured and designed to get you comfortable with the local environment. This part of the class includes visits to see the world's largest bronze statue of Buddha, a bullet train trip past Mt. Fuji, the Osaka Castle, and the Tokyo fish market. During these activities you will become more familiar with Japanese culture and have limited time to work on your research project. The second half of your stay in each city will focus on completing your business research project.
